In October, I traveled to Germantown, Maryland to visit my grandchildren and my great-grandson who celebrated his second birthday while I was there. While I was visiting, my granddaughter and I went into Washington D.C. sight-seeing and visited the DAR headquarters. We are both charter members of the James Stewart Chapter. The building is very impressive. We took the tour and saw most of the rooms from each state, including the Georgia Room.
While there, we donated The Awbrey Book written by Jon Anthony Awbrey to the DAR Library. The Awbrey Book traces the genealogy of our paternal ancestry.
The picture to the left shows me holding the book at the DAR Headquarters. The picture to the right shows me in front of the building. Note the scaffolding in the background where the building restoration is taking place.
