One of our members created a habitat (caged area) on her back patio.  She planted milkweed throughout her garden, and she checks for eggs on the bottom of the milkweed leafs.  When she sees them, she carefully detaches the leaf and places it in the habitat.  She keeps plenty of milkweed in the habitat because when the caterpillars hatch, they need milkweed to eat.   Eventually the caterpillars will spin themselves into a chrysallis, and voila’, a monarch will emerge.  She releases the monarchs after they are dry.
